Direwolfs
Finding a Direwolf
If you are of Northern culture, you can come across some caves, that turns out to be a wolf den! There is a strong coming from the den, and it smells to have died recently... If you, and your men are brave you can continue onwards.
If you are brave, or particularly stupid, you will be attacked by a whole wolf pack! Be warned as your less trained men (usually lower tier units) will flee. There is many as 25 wolves you will have to defeat.
After the fight, you will find a Direwolf Pup, if you are Northern you will adopt him into your party, after all these creatures are deadly. If you aren't Northern, you will be forced to put down this dangerous animal and move on.
Finding a Dog
There can be a random map event where you stumble across a dog which you can take into your party. This companion/unit is pretty much the same as the Direwolf and can also be fed just like the Direwolf.
Feeding and improving the Direwolf
The Direwolf stats/attributes can be improved by feeding it certain types of foods:
- Feeding it sausages will restore its health.
- Pork Increases iron flesh by 1 and health by 2
- Beef/Aurach increases Strength and Health by 1
- Chicken Increases Riding by 1
- Boar Meat Increases Power Strike by 1
- Dried Meat will increase Power Strike, for whatever reason.
- Venison will increase something, probably Power Strike
