==Qohor==
Qohor is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by King Orea Talordis

Their sigil is a black goat on a forest background

Their map colour is a light magenta.

==History==
Known as the “City of Sorcerers”, Qohor is the gateway to the overland trade routes across the Dothraki Sea. While not a quick as the sea routes and extremely dangerous, the overland trade routes avoid the hefty toll that ships must pay to pass through the Jade Gates held by Qarth. While Qohor has a sinister reputation, this is due to the god of Qohor, the Black Goat of Qohor, requiring constant blood sacrifice, it holds a highly enlightened and educated society.

Due to the requirement for blood sacrifice animals and prisoners are valuable commodities to sale to the traders. In addition, Qohor is a vital supplier of lumber to both Volantis and Slaver’s Bay. The Qohorik smiths are legendary and are capable of reworking Valyrian steel, perhaps a talented smith may gain access to these secrets and forge their own Valyrian weapons.

==Location==
Qohor is a strategic location due to its location, resources, and knowledge. This is not lost on the Qohorik leaders and they keep a strong contingent of Unsullied Warriors from Astapor to protect their city from the Dothraki. In the past a mere 3,000 Unsullied shattered a Khalasar of 25,000, in an event known as the “Three Thousand of Qohor.”

==Religion==
The sacred god of the city of Qohor, the Black Goat has a voracious appetite for blood requiring daily blood sacrifices of animals, criminals, or prisoners. The Black Goat is revered as the protector of Qohor and at the city’s most dire moments, hundreds are sacrificed to receive the Black Goat’s blessing. It is said during the stand of the Three thousand, that more of Qohor’s slaves and citizens perished as sacrifices than the number of Unsullied killed.

Gaining favor with the Black Goat will be easy, unless you wear easily stained clothing, all you must do is sacrifice prisoners or deliver animals to a temple for slaughter. To a devout follower, or butcher, the Black Goat may offer some of his divine protection.
They are heavily infantry focused however, with the cavalry and archers being locked further down the troop tree. These units hardly being worth acquiring; given the choice of warriors. It can be recommended to concentrate on acquiring primarily Black Goat Warriors that may better serve your army as a shock force and/or heavy infantry.
Pentos is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by Prince Adaros Aloran.

Their sigil is a green island on a blue background?

Their map colour is a pale Blue

==History==
Ranked as the poorest free city in all Essos, Lorath is considered both the most isolated and backward people of Essos. To a large degree this is true, their location on the Shivering Sea is far from ideal and does not encourage much immigration. Due to the lack of opportunity, many of the Lorath seek employment as mercenaries in the Free Companies.
While Lorath’s condition is far from ideal, it is one of the few places Ivory can be obtained by harvesting Walrus Tusk, which is a valuable trade commodity. Additionally, Lorath is the main supplier of Velvet and if this industry is further developed the possible wealth it could provide could be staggering.

Isolated from the rest of Essos, Lorath could easily gather its strength and attempt to take over the remains of Sarnor or push inland against Norvos. Either course of action would entail significant risk but would be worth the effort.

==Location==
Located on the Shivering Isles, Lorath is a small island state known as the poorest, desolate even, of all the free cities. The waters surrounding the Isles are frigid and make trade difficult. To the West is Braavos, Norvos to the South and Qohor to the North-East.

==Religion==
There are various religions in the Free City of Lorath. Some traders from the West may pray the Seven, the red priests in their temple worship Rh'lorr and Dothraki Khal's, selling their plunder or receiving favour worship 'the great stallion. However most of the men and women of Lorath believe all to be equal, regardless of sex or religion.
Many of the citizens of Lorath wish to leave their city, selling their skills and swords as mercenaries; thus the troop tree for Lorath is entirely based on mercenaries. Lorath has a wide selection of troops, and can make excelent filler for any army, if you dont want to buy an entire company. The real highlight of the Lorath troops would be their longbowmen at Tier 2, which view factions in both Essos and Westeros have. The downside however, is these troops can be expensive to upgrade, and keep.
Pentos is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by Prince Adaros Aloran.

Their sigil is a green island on a blue background?

Their map colour is a pale Blue

==History==

==Location==
located on the Shivering Isles, Lorath is a small island state known as the poorest, desolate even, of all the free cities.

==Religion==

==Qohor==
Qohor is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by King Orea Talordis

Their sigil is a black goat on a forest background

Their map colour is a light magenta.

==History==

==Location==

==Religion==

Their sigil is a Bear holding a polearm on a split grey-brown background.
Their map colour is tan.

==History==
Founded as a theocracy Norvos is ruled by the bearded priest who worship a god so secret that their name is only know by initiates. To enforce their rule bearded priest buy the unwanted boys of Norvosi families and turn them into a holy guard. This holy guard fanatically defend their beaded priest masters and live by the three words the swear “Serve, Obey, Protect.” Each of these warriors is branded with the sign of the axe to remind them to keep their axes sharp.

The economy of Norvos consists of substance farming, the mining of copper, tin, and iron, and the production of cloth, and tapestries. While richer than Lorath, Norvos can be considered poor. Unlike other free-cities Norvos does not produce specialty goods, limiting its value as a trade destination.

Although considering the Black Goat of Qohor a demon, both cities will ally themselves against aggression from Volantis, who they both despise and see as a direct threat to their security. Norvos, is currently engaged in a war with the Dothraki, primarily due to a Khal not being pleased with the presents the Bearded Priest of Qohor presented him.
==Location==
Norvos borders Lorthar to the North-West, Qohor to the east, shares a small border with Volantis and is at war with the Dothraki to the North-East.

==Volantis==
Volantis is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by Triarch Malaquo Maegyr.

Their sigil is a Tiger and an Elephant.

Their map colour is a Light Brownish-Grey.

==History==
Once the most powerful of the Daughters of Valyria, Volantis has slid into second place behind Braavos. Volantis following the fall of Valyria thought itself the natural successor of Valyria and embarked on conquering their neighbours leading Volantis loosing much of the “Old Blood of Valyria” in its failed attempt to conquer its fellow free cities. While Volantis has continued to attempt to take this rightful place the other free cities continuously foil their attempts.

Volantis is rich in industry and is a major destination for trade goods from around the known world, a skilled trader could use the port of Volantis to their financial advantage. Volantis is the final destination for much of the slave trade and slavers pay a premium for slaves to keep up with a steady and insatiable demand for additional slaves. A skilled gladiator can gain fame and fortune fighting in the pits of Volantis and quickly build up enough money to fund their own trading company.

While Volantis has failed previously to seize the other free cities the opportunity may arise for Volantis to try once again, hopefully learning from its prior mistakes. If Volantis pursues this course wealth, titles, and fame would certainly fall upon the shoulders of a successful mercenary captain.
==Location==
Volantis borders Qohor to the North. The Dothraki to the North East and Myr to the West.
==Religion==
Volantis worships R'hlorr, known as the Lord of Light. Worshipped extensively in Essos.
Myr is one of the free cities found within Essos and is ruled by Magister Ferrego Dragar.

Their sigil is snakes on a cream background.

Their map colour is Crème.

==History==
Located on the fertile coast of the Sea of Myrth, Myr is one of the nine Free-Cities of Essos. Myr, prior to its capture by a group of Valyrian adventurers, was one of the last remaining Andal strongholds on Essos following the Andal’s invasion of Westeros. Myr is not a particularly strong though its crossbowmen are renowned across the world for their crossbows that fire three bolts.

Myr is known for its scholars, art, and for its textile industry with the lace, blankets, screens, and carpets it creates fetching high profits. Recently, Myrish art has become extremely popular in Westeros, which could allow a trader to make a sizable fortune if exploited.

With the threat of war between Tyrosh and Lys becoming more likely, Myr may find itself in need of mercenaries. While one of the weaker powers of Essos, a successful mercenary leader could easily find themselves both fame and fortune fighting for Myr.

==Religion==
Myr does not have an official state religion. Being a trader city, their are many of varying faiths.
[[file:MyrTroops.png|thumb|Myrish Troop Tree]] Myr relies heavily on slave troops, much like the slaver cities in the far far west. Myrish troops can best be described as cheap and numerous. The slave Warriors will make the bulk of the Myrish (and hopefully not yours!) armies. My lacks any cavalry and archers, most their soldiers are spear based units. This is offset by Myrish lords with the use of mercenaries. The best use for Myrish troops is cheap spearmen for defending archers.

==Troop Tree==
The Troop tree of Volantis follows two paths: the slave warriors of the Tiger Cloaks and the Freemen of the Free City. The Volantis Freemen, armed with spears, lack shields. Later down the tree, there is horsemen however. It's recommended to focus down the Tiger Cloak path, as Tiger Cloak Archers are some of the best archers within AWOIAF; their warriors are also decent and well equipped with scale armour.
===Unique Heritage Troops===
The horse-riders of the Dothrak do not have a 'motto,' however they use various guttural sounds to frighten their enemies.

Their map colour is Brown.

==History==
Following the “Doom of Valyria” the Dothraki came screaming out of the Dothraki Sea with a Vengeance. The Dothraki laid waste to cities of Qarth, Slaver’s Bay, Ibben, and Lhazar and all but annihilated the Kingdom of Sarnor. The Dothraki are fierce horse mounted nomadic warriors that know no equals. The Dothraki have a few advantages over their more civilized enemies that help them achieve victory. First, the Dothraki can live off the land except in areas of desert, snow, and ghost grass where they will require provisions. They also scare the majority of the enemies they face, giving them an initial advantage on the battlefield that can rapidly turn a battle into route in their favor.

==Location==
This particular Khalasar (clan) is situated between a fork in a river, far to the west in Essos. Their most immediate eighbor is Qohor to the north; they have tried and failed to raid these strange men, and lost. They also 'share' a vague border with the cities of Volantis to the South West. The Dothraki are at war with the zealots of Norvos, and can often be seen slaughtering the devout and sacking their cities.
Some Khals and Bloodriders can be found far east as Pentos, receiving 'gifts' (bribes under any over word) to not raid the free cities.
The Dothraki in AWOIAF do not not have their religion featured, so 'worships no religion.' The Dothrak in the lore however, worships a deity known as the Great Stallion.
==History==
Pentos is one of the largest of the free cities of Essos but considered the weakest of them all due to the constraints placed on them by Braavos during their last war. Pentos is not allowed to hire mercenary companies, keep slaves, keep a standing army, and limited to a navy of twenty galleys. With all these limitation on their power Pentos is frail, but they have been able to find some creative ways to get around the disastrous peace terms dictated on them.

Many of the Pentoshi ships can be easily converted into military service though they remain under the ownership of either a trade guild or spice guild. The spice guilds have become the de-facto army of Pentos and man the cities defenses. While these things give Pentos some level of defense, they primarily rely on good diplomacy to prevent their destruction at the hands of the Dothraki or their neighbors.

==The North==
The North is one of the major factions found within Westeros, and is lead by House Stark. The King in the North is King Robb Stark.

Their sigil is a grey direwolf on a field of white and green. Their words are "Winter is Coming".

Their map color is grey.

==History==
The North is the oldest of all of the kingdoms, descending from the First Men after they fled from beyond the wall. The Northern kingdoms fought a long and bloody war against The children of the forest. Eventually the children created the white walkers as a means of defense against the humans that fought against them, but the walkers proved a greater threat than the men themselves. The children and the men eventually formed an alliance with each other in order to fight against the white walkers that they had created, and in doing so successfully vanquished the white walkers, for a time. After the fighting was over The children of the forest vanished from society, never to be seen again. After the fighting was over a man by the name of Bran the Builder constructed a massive wall of ice to prevent any further invasions from the north, the wall eventually led to the formation of the Nights Watch. When the Andals invaded centuries later the northern lords were the only ones able to successfully hold them off, which explains why the northern gene-pool is still predominately blood from the first men. Today they still stand united under their new king, waiting for a chance to avenge their old lord and kill the people who executed him.
==Location==
The North is one of the major factions in Westeros in the mod AWOIAF. The North is located at the topmost part of the map, bordered by the Riverlands to the south and separated from being higher north by a high ice wall. The North is ill suited for growing most kinds of crops, and instead rely on importing their goods from The Riverlands and hunting woodland creatures for meat. Because of how remote and vast the northern kingdom is they produce very hardy and self productive men to fight for them. They also believe in the old gods rather than the faith of the seven that the rest of Westeros follows.
==Religion==
The Free Folk worship the Old Gods of the Forest, like their distant cousins in the North. Even in the lands of House Stark, there are some followers of the Faith of the Seven, often southern noblewomen who come to the North to secure marriage alliances.
==Troop Tree==
[[File:NorthTroops.png|thumb|The North Troop Tree]]
The North has a fairly balanced troop tree, with their cavalry and infantry being decent and their archers being slightly weak. The northern infantry and cavalry is good in both field battles and sieges. Northern units tend to be medium units, with not too heavy or too light of armor. This means that they have decent armor and a good speed to keep up as well. A good tactic with Northern units is to send your cavalry off to the side and send your infantry immediately charging in. Once the enemy charges their units you can tell your cavalry to charge to mow them down. Have your archers behind your infantry on some type of hill if there is one.
Northern units can be recruited from villages regardless of player status unless they are hostile to The Northern. Additional ways to recruit Northern units is to rescue them from enemy lords parties, find them in taverns, or rescue them from enemy garrisons.

Their sigil is two grey rapiers on a light blue background.

Their map colour is a light purple
==History==
While neither the richest nor most powerful of the free cities, Tyrosh is by far the most aggressive. While most of the free cities prefer to use mercenaries in their wars, Tyroshi consider military service as an honorable profession, though lesser than a career as a trader. Additionally, Tyroshi are aggressive slavers and even send expeditions beyond The Wall in order to enslave the Free Folk.
Tyrosh is a wealthy city that produces some of the most exquisite armor and weapons in the known world. Traders may be able to purchase some of these weapons in bulk in order to sale in distant ports for major profit. Dye is also another important trade good produced in Tyrosh, though it does offer the same lucrative profit potential as Tyroshi made armor.
==Location==
Tyrosh is situated on an island, neighboring Myr to the west, Pentos in the North amd Lys to the Sout-East. Tyrosh is a strong power and it has the potential to become the likely winner in a protracted war with Lys and Myr, solely for the fact they are not as heavily dependent on mercenaries to do their fighting. Though they do not depend on mercenaries, they will not hesitate to hire them in order to achieve victory against their adversaries.
==Religion==
There are various religions in the Free City of Tyrosh. Some traders from the West may pray the Seven, the red priests in their temple worship Rh'lorr.
The basic footman cannot enjoy more than cheap gambeson, it might even be a luxery to get a sharpened sword for these relucant warriors. Tyrosh also fields no cavalry and has only one archer unit--which often puts its army at a disadvantage.
