History

Located on the fertile coast of the Sea of Myrth, Myr is one of the nine Free Cities of Essos. Myr, prior to its capture by a group of Valyrian adventurers, was one of the last remaining Andal strongholds on Essos following the Andal invasion of Westeros. Myr is not a particularly strong power, though its crossbowmen are renowned across the world for their crossbows that fire three bolts.

Myr is known for its scholars, art, and its textile industry — the lace, blankets, screens, and carpets it creates fetch high profits. Recently, Myrish art has become extremely popular in Westeros, which could allow a trader to make a sizable fortune if exploited.

With the threat of war between Tyrosh and Lys becoming more likely, Myr may find itself in need of mercenaries. While one of the weaker powers of Essos, a successful mercenary leader could easily find both fame and fortune fighting for Myr.

Religion

Myr does not have an official state religion. Being a trading city, there are many of varying faiths.

Troop Tree

Myr relies heavily on slave troops, much like the slaver cities in the far west. They have alright spear troops, which lack head armour, and one of the best crossbow units in the game. Their cavalry is decent — better than a normal saddle horse; they’ve got camels to ride on.

Strengths

  • Excellent crossbowmen.

Weaknesses

  • No head armour on spearmen.

Unique, Location-Based Troops

Myrish Slave Warrior

  • Myrish Slave Warriors can be recruited in bulk (20 men) if the player directly governs Myr.
  • Myrish Slave Warriors are featured in the Myr tree; however, it is more efficient to buy these warriors, not having to train them yourself. Decent spearmen.

Recruiting Units from Myr

Myrish units can be recruited from villages regardless of player status unless they are hostile to Myr. Additional ways to recruit Myrish units are to rescue them from enemy lords’ parties, find them in taverns, or rescue them from enemy garrisons.
